Amidst all the chaos that was the aftermath of the November 4 demonstrations last week, something quite intriguing caught our eye on social media – and had nothing to do with politics and religion (thank God). It was the simple choice of attire worn by our President during of what supposed to be a dead serious press conference in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Jokowi’s “Bomber Jacket” took on a life of its own on social media, which was a breath of fresh air given the negative news and comments that plagued social media throughout the previous day.

So who started all this? If you’re thinking an influencer or a celebrity you’d be wrong again. A tweet by an unseemingly normal account @rahneputri sparked this social supernova and catapulted a jacket into social media history. More interestingly, as most trending topics only usually last a few hours or a day at the most, this legendary apparel trend carried on into day 3 with comment topics ranging from praises, brand polls to elaborate conspiracy theories. Yes, conspiracy theories.
